Better Living at Thompson House

Thompson House is a well-maintained, comfortable 136- bed charitable long-term care home providing primarily semi-private accommodation. We have a smoke free, air-conditioned environment with individual climate controls located in each room. Services include medical, nursing, physiotherapy, recreation, social work, chaplaincy, hairdressing, housekeeping, laundry and food services. Our highly trained, caring staff work in partnership with residents, their families and the Family and Resident Councils to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained and the individual needs of each resident are met.

Our goal is to provide excellence in every aspect of care and service for residents and their families while encouraging the independence of each resident. The principles of restorative, rehabilitative and palliative care guide dedicated, professional staff as they work to improve the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual well being of the people who make Thompson House their home. We believe that in order to achieve and maintain a high standard of care, we must:

• Respect and recognize the rights of our residents
• Provide care with confidentiality, honesty, equality and trust
• Constantly evaluate processes to ensure consistency, quality and responsive care and services
• Have comprehensive, care planning processes involving the resident, their families and    members of an interdisciplinary team of professionals
• Ensure that each person’s dignity is preserved in life and in death
• Have comprehensive policies and procedures that reflect a demonstrated respect for human    life and the dying process.

Visitors are always welcome at Thompson House and are important to our residents’ quality of life. Regular visiting hours are between 9:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. daily.
