Better Living Health and Community Services offers the Adult Day Program service to seniors and adults with disabilities living in the community. We provide service for a range of seniors, including those who may have a physical disability, are recovering from debilitating illness, or who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or a related cognitive impairment.
Satisfying Personal Interests and Needs
From bingo and bowling to live entertainment and outings, the Adult Day Program is designed to meet a wide variety of intellectual, social, physical and emotional needs. Multiple activities occur simultaneously to allow clients the opportunity to satisfy their personal interests and needs. Special events that celebrate cultural observations and seasonal events are planned regularly, as are outings and entertainment. Take a look at our monthly newsletters/program calendars for more information.
Day Program Environment
The Adult Day Program runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Clients can register to attend the program as often as they desire (e.g. all five days or one half day a week).
Our Day Program area is full accessible, including dedicated accessible washrooms. The Day Program operates in a newly renovated space and features a large dining and program area, another separate programming space, a full kitchen and a staff office.
A hot nutritious meal is served at lunch and snacks are provided throughout the day. Through our Meals on Wheels program we are able to offer therapeutic meals. Our staff members are trained through the City of Toronto’s Safe Food Handlers Program.
Personal care is available for those who require assistance. However, we are unable to accommodate clients who require two-person transfers. Personal caregivers are welcome to assist clients in the program and one of our staff can assist those individuals with providing for greater personal care needs.
Quality Care at a Low Cost
The daily fee for the program includes a catered meal and snacks. However, occasionally some of the outings require a nominal fee. Group transportation is available to clients for a nominal fee, however spaces are limited. Clients who receive Wheeltrans are not eligible for this service. Please see the service fees page for all program costs.
